Kristin Chenoweth, a Broadway actress and frequent “Glee” guest star, is set to appear in an ABC pilot based on the novel “Good Christian Bitches.”
The story is a couple of divorced mom and former highschool “mean woman,” played by Leslie Bibb of “Iron Man” and “Well-liked” fame, who moves back to her previous neighborhood in Dallas. Her old pals, led by Chenoweth’s character, a housewife, appear to be hell-bent on ruining her reputation. Spokespeople for Bibbs and Chenoweth confirmed the actresses’ participation within the pilot, which is predicated on a e-book by Kim Gatlin. A supply near the matter informed OnTheRedCarpet.com that the name of the pilot is more likely to change as it is still in an early stage of development.
The on-air project was written by Robert Harling and produced by Darren Star of “Intercourse and the City” and “Melrose Place” fame, in line with Deadline.com.

The Parents Television Council, a watchdog group that screens programs for doable profanity and other issues they deem inappropriate for younger viewers, mentioned the tentative title of the ABC pilot was “offensive.”
“ABC’s choice is just not solely an affront to women, it blatantly assaults the world’s largest faith,” the group’s president Tim Winter stated in a statement. “The ‘B-phrase’ is poisonous and is used to degrade, abuse, harass, bully and humiliate women. And the ‘Christian’ aspect solely adds insult to injury.”
“Except or until ABC realizes that its determination about ‘Good Christian Bitches’ was misguided, PTC will use each methodology at its disposal to turn advertisers and viewers away from a provocative title that compromises respect for each ladies and Christians in an attempt to attract ratings,” Winter added.
ABC had no quick response to Winters’ remarks. The Dad and mom Television Council final 12 months condemned a racy GQ journal photoshoot featuring three “Glee” cast members as well as the title of the CBS comedy series “$*! My Dad Says.”
Chenoweth had stated in January that she was engaged on a pilot with “Glee” co-creator Ryan Murphy, telling OnTheRedCarpet.com: “It is really a good idea and it will obviously involve singing and dancing. It’s going to be geared somewhat bit more in direction of older fans, not old folks, though I hope previous people watch it – that would be me, previous people.”
The actress’ spokesperson told OnTheRedCarpet.com that the Murphy venture “would not have a set timeline and wasn’t planned for this season,” but that “it is nonetheless a possibility for the future.”
Chenoweth originated the position of Glinda the Good Witch in the Broadway musical “Wicked” and in addition appeared on the ABC collection “Pushing Daisies, which ran between 2007 and 2009. She is set to reprise her role as April Rhodes on “Glee” later this spring.
In April, the homosexual rights group GLAAD is about to honor Chenoweth with the Vanguard Award, which is introduced to “media professionals who’ve increased the visibility and understanding of the LGBT community.”
